Malolithic in oak with a 17 month aging in French oak.

Tasting note

Surprising notes of red fruits, strawberries, blueberries and plum. Floral aromas of violets along with hints of chocolate and hazelnut. Surprise and grow in the glass. The palate is broad and tasty, with a sweet and ripe tannin that respects and enhances the wine and that helps to appreciate all the minerality that this old vineyard contains. It leaves a persistent and pleasant memory in the mouth.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate (

The oddly named 2009 Congo is a pure Garnacha from the Alberche Valley – a selection of the best bunches from a 0.8-hectare parcel of vines raised for 18 months in French oak. The stem addition lends this an intriguing, well-defined, character-driven bouquet with raspberry leaf, cranberry and a touch of undergrowth. The palate is fresh on the entry with crisp raspberry and red currant fruit. It is very well-balanced with a clean, linear, enticing bouquet that is sophisticated and very appealing. Superb. Drink now-2018. (Neal Martin) Points: 93. Issue Date: 25/04/2013
