Tasting note

Stylish and complex, the beautifully fragrant bouquet shows red/black cherry, floral, dark olive, nutmeg and earthy mushroom characters, leading to a juicy palate that is wonderfully rounded and elegant. It is refined and persistent with gorgeous spicy/savoury nuances.

About the producer

We are thrilled to be working with Domaine Rewa, an up and coming producer from the Central Otago, situated next door to the wellknown Mount Edward estate. The domaine comprises a tiny 5.5ha single vineyard, nestled in the foothills of the Pisa Range on a unique fluvial terrace. Owner Philippa Fourbet, together with winemaker Pete Bartle, is pursuing her lifelong dream of producing refined wines from her homeland in Central Otago. Inspired by the elegance of Burgundy, these superbly pure and perfumed wines are made using biodynamic principles in order to produce the best possible expressions of this particular Central Otago terroir. Although the property was first planted in 1997, 2011 was Domaine Rewa’s first vintage. Production is just 10,000 bottles per year.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate (

Pale ruby-purple colored, the 2014 Pinot Noir offers notes of kirsch, red currant jelly and underbrush with a touch of lavender. Light-bodied and delicately played on the palate, it has subtle red fruit and earth flavors supported by nice freshness and the slightest chew of tannins, finishing with an herbal lift. Lovely black cherry and blackberry fruit. Quite dark and intense but also showing some elegance. Really precise style with silkiness and purity, as well as some generosity. Points 94/100. Date Published: 04/21/2019
