100% Garnacha. Vineyards located in the transition zone between the subzones of Ribera Alta and Baja Montaña, in the lower part of the municipality of San Martín de Unx.Terroir: 400m of altitude, soils of average fertility, clay - calcareous. Fermented in barrels and matured on lees (4 months in American Oak ).

Tasting note

Raspberry pink color, with well-marked violet reflections, bright and lively. The aroma is intense and highly complex: a good blend between toasted and spicy notes from the barrel with the sweet and fruity character of Garnacha. In the mouth it is a powerful, enveloping rosé, with a good structure, with lots of fruit and toasted nuances. Despite its sweet tooth in the mouth, it maintains the right freshness with an acidity that gives it a perfect balance and predicts a good aging in the bottle.

About the producer

In 2006 Gonzalo Celayeta started work as a winemaker at Bodegas San Martín, within the subarea of Baja Montaña in the DO Navarra. He trained at EVENA (Navarra’s Viticulture and Oenology Centre), and launched his own project in 2004. Focusing on Garnacha, his production is very low producing between 10,000 to 13,000 bottles, which include his white, rosé and red wines. Unusually, the ‘El Caserio’ is barrel fermented in Spanish chestnut wood.

The intense pink 2018 La Huella de Aitana is a rosé produced with Garnacha that fermented and matured in oak barrel for four months. It has an aromatic profile that could remind you of a powerful white, with a mixture of berries and sweet spices, plus a leafy touch, with some complexity and elegance. The palate is quite compact, with moderate alcohol and acidity and a sweet touch in the finish that doesn't really add to the overall impression of the wine. 8,000 bottles produced.
